3 Things That Made Yesterday Better

There is nothing of much consequence in this newsletter. Just three things that made my yesterday better, and I thought a few of you might enjoy reading. And I’d love to hear something that’s making your week better in the comment section down yonder.

The Jesus and Jane Podcast with Karen Swallow Prior.

The title is a bit deceptive. Because while Dr. Prior’s Christianity and faith as a whole certainly a part of the podcast, the bulk of the podcast is conversations between Dr. Prior and different folks who bring their expertise to the table to discuss Jane Austen characters.

This season, they’re look at the characters of Pride and Prejudice, and it’s fabulous.

Yesterday, I listened to the episode where KSP discussed Mary Bennett with a psychoanalyst. I was surprised by how much their discussion moved me.

I thought the comparison they drew between Mr. Bennett and Mary were fascinating, and I’m not sad they called Mr. Bennett out as a not great guy.

If you want to give a listen, I recommend the episodes about Mary, Kitty and Lydia.

Parmesan cheese grits.

A few weeks ago while I was watching TikTok (because I’m cool), a creator I follow showed her husband meal prepping sausage, onions and peppers, then serving it all on top parmesan cheese grits.

And I’ve not been able to think about that combination, so I added it to our meal plan for the week.

And dang, I was not disappointed. I made these grits (more than 3k five star reviews!) and they are absolutely a new favorite, and I’m already thinking what else I can serve on top of them.

Jazzercise.

I could (and plan to!) write a post on joyful movement and the role it’s played in helping me develop a loving, collaborative relationship with my body.

And in that post, Jazzercise will be a pretty big player in the story. I am grateful for my Jazz crew, and just the sheer amount of fun I have at class. Here’s a shapshot from last night’s class.

That’s all for me, folks.

What’s sparking some joy for your this week? Tell me below!
