The Heystack // vol. 3
Here are some of the things on my mind this week.
I know I’m a late-comer to the The Chosen, but my friends, I cannot get enough of it right now. I’m shocked in the best way by how understated it is and how slowly it moves; this is not something I’m used to in Christian media. I’m particularly drawn to the portrayals of Nicodemus and Matthew. I’m almost done with season 1 and can’t wait to start season 2.
It took me a few episodes to get used to the pacing and storytelling, but like I said, I can’t stop now. If you’ve not watched it and have any interest in Jesus, give the first few episodes a try.
(And if you know me in real life, you know I can’t wait for the seasons that will introduce Martha, Mary and Lazarus. Gimme gimme!)
I’m excited to explore this Substack the facets Louise Penny’s Three Pines series. “World of Curiosities” releases a week from today and the Amazon series comes to us in December. This newsletter will tide me over until then.
In the words of Kate Kennedy, stop, drop and read this post from Jamie B. Golden right now. Good words with a day of feasting on the horizon.
Finally, I’ve had the joy of digging into (the forthcoming) “In Good Time” by Jen Pollock Michel. It comes out in December, and I can’t wait to share this book with my people. You can read some initial thoughts on Instagram and I’ll share a more comprehensive book review once I’m finished.
I share here to let you know that if you pre-order the book, there’s a wonderful pre-order bonus. Jen is teaching a four week course in January on creating a Rule of Life. As I’ve gotten to know Jen over the past few months and learned more about crafting a Rule of Life, I’ve realized what a useful tool this could be in my life to help me respond faithfully to the One who calls me His. I’d love to “see” you there.
Peace to you this Thanksgiving week 🍂
