The Chosen is one of my all-time favorite books. It’s so underrated, and I’ve never recommended it to anyone who didn’t also love it.

I had an amazing college lit class that required reading The Chosen. I think I’ve read all his books now, and wow. What an author. One of my top favs.

It was called Suffering and Grace in the novel, which is just such a compelling title. Wish I could take it again!

That interview with Alan Jacobs was my very first podcast of hers I listened to (and maybe how I was introduced to her work)! My husband routinely brings up his concept of reading at whim, for delight.

"The Deep Place" - Such a haunting, gripping, and wild ride of a memoir.
